St. Mary's Hall

 

St. Mary's Hall in Obins Street has recently been put on the market for sale.  The hall in it's heyday attracted stars of the time like Adam Faith, Anne Shelton, and Andy Stewart.  Opened December 1958 the hall was was a busy mecca for singers, ballroom dancing and later a cinema.

St. Mary's Hall was built in 1958.  It was blessed and opened by Cardinal Dalton in December.  Until that time most of the social events in the parish were held in the vacant boys school in Curran Street, and there was much fund raising when a new hall became a possibility.
